I took
Grace to her 9 month appointment today. She did great J
Dr. Sackett says she’s small, but healthy! In the last 3 months she has gained
two pounds and has grown two inches. This puts her in the 15th
percentile for weight and the 10th percentile in height. The nurse commented on her long, beautiful eyelashes at least three times. While he was checking her eyes, ears, heart...etc, she just laid there and stared at him as if to say "what in the world are you doing, mister?!", but she stayed still so that we were only there for a short amount of time. He also mentioned that it seems like we might have an early walker on our hands...only time will tell!
She did get one immunization and a thumb poke, but only fussed for a second. I think that is harder on the parent than it is on the child. As the nurse put a normal sized band-aid on her thumb she said to me "now mom, you're going to have to try to keep this on her, at least for a few minutes anyways". The second she let go of Grace's hand, the thumb, band-aid and all, went straight into the mouth. Not surprising. Needless to say, keeping it out of her mouth long enough to get her dressed, checked out, and into the car was a bit of a challenge.
So after the appointment, we drove back to the babysitter's house. I got there, got her out of her carseat and got halfway up to the house when I realized that the band-aid was no longer on her finger! I immediately checked her mouth by sticking my finger in. The last thing I wanted was to have her choke on a band-aid! The babysitter opened the door and asked what was going on? ha! I ended up finding the band-aid in her carseat. whew. Can't say that I blame her for wanting to get that thing off!

Best Buddies!
Millie has a new best friend! Well, maybe not a best friend...but at least a little person who likes to steal her treats, toys, and bone! She doesn't mind though. Grace has pulled out lots and lots of Millie's hair and (so far) Millie takes it so well! Grace has also received her share of kisses from Millie and loves every second of it. :)
In this picture, Grace has spotted Millie's bone and decided that if Millie likes to chew on that thing, she would like to chew on it too.
Clearly, Millie is clueless that her bone is about to be stolen...unfortunately, I did not get a picture of Grace's quick crawl/worm crawl over to the bone. Grace always wins. Millie will just get up and walk away.
Occasionally, we have to block the two of them in the living room so that the kitchen floor can get swept and mopped. Both have slight cases of separation anxiety...so here, Grace shows Millie how it's done. Can't fool these two ;)
Grace found her way underneath the side table where she saw a prime opportunity to escape...
*Notice Millie (who has never gotten past this blockade) studying Grace in the background.
It took her a minute or two to formulate a plan...
Success!
Millie's turn...
Obviously, Millie has learned from the master escape artist. Together, they will conquer many obstacles in life, side by side!
On another note...I love this picture of me and my dad! He's the best! We really enjoyed having my family come up and watch Grace while our babysitter was out of power. They were definitely lifesavers!

8 Months!!
I love this picture of Grace and I :) She's such a cutie!
Grace at eight months...why does it seem like she changes every, single day? It was almost like one day I woke up and she was crawling, sitting up, pulling up, cutting teeth, eating big girl food and trying to walk! I'm just trying to remember to cherish each moment.
* I don't feel like these pictures are very good, but it's getting harder and harder to photograph this little one!

Let's go camping!
As many of you know, Seth and I really, really enjoy going camping. We have our huge tent with our huge air mattress and we go camping with Seth's parents every so often throughout the summer.
I have to say, I am totally impressed with how well Grace does when we go camping! I was worried that she would wake up to noises in the middle of the night or that Millie (who also stays in the tent with us) will bark at a noise and wake her up. So far, so good! Ever since Grace was born we have tried to make a normal amount of noise while she's sleeping (as in, we don't walk on tip-toes or whisper) so she does pretty good sleeping through noise. She's even been known to sleep through some pretty loud dog barks during daytime naps! We pray that she keeps this up!
I also like to think that Grace will grow up with a love for nature, like her momma :) Like trees. I love trees! There's just something about being in a place surrounded by trees to feel the peace of God and to enjoy the beauty He created! Camping is just a great way to get away from how busy life is and rest and relax.
This picture was taken at the campground after Grace played in the kiddie pool Grammy bought her! Unfortunately, she didn't have a bathing suit on, so I decided against posting those pictures for the world to see. Instead, I will save them and show them to her husband someday (that's a crazy thought since I'd like to think that she will always be too young to get married...!).
She's just enjoying some time with her daddy! For now, she gets held a lot while camping, but I would imagine that will change as she continues to get more mobile.
Seth always makes Grace laugh by making silly faces. He is such a wonderful daddy :) It's fun to watch him make her smile and laugh at him...she absolutely adores him.
Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of our veteran camping dog, Millie Sue! She also loves camping! I'm not sure what she will do now that Duane traded in the Big Rig diesel truck & travel trailer for a motor home and different truck. Before Millie, I had never met a dog who could tell a Ford diesel from any other truck out there since she loves Duane so much!
All that to say, I'm always looking forward to our next camping trip!
